Behind the Author
Born to an American father and a Persian mother and raised in Guatemala, Ruha Alford's childhood prepared her to be different in every way, from speaking a different language to sporting a different nose and following a different religion. From her earliest years, Ruha faced these difficulties armed with two powers - kindness and humor. Through the different continents, languages, faiths and noses, Ruha amassed a collection of characters, landscapes and misunderstandings which form the basis for her fantasy worlds and storytelling.
Ruha lives in Louisiana and holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University. She speaks to high school audiences about Chemical Engineering, Women in STEM, and real world applications of advanced math whenever she can.
